Collections
You can make Collections of resources using the ‘Save to my collections’ button on the resource pages. A collection can be named and saved to your browser cookies. Use the ‘Copy url’ button to manually save a link elsewhere or share with colleagues and students. Load in a shared collection by pasting in a url into any browser.
Using Collections
Collections allow you to create groups of resources that you can share with others or save for your own records. They work without account logins by simply saving to your browser cookies. This saves a lot of trouble, but it is worth reading this quick guide because they may not work exactly like you expect.
Why create a collection?
A collection is a great way of saving a set of resources for a specific purpose. Maybe you are a teacher working on a class about Magna Carta and wish to point your students towards a few resources. You can create a collection, name it and share it with them to open on their own device. Maybe you are a student and have found a couple of useful resources. You can create a collection and return to them another day.
How do I create a collection?
You can make a collection of resources using the ‘Save to my collections’ button on the resource pages. Choose to create a new collection or save to an existing one. You can find your collections under Collections in the menu. Here you can edit your saved collections and get links to share.
How do I share a collection?
Use the ‘Copy url’ button next to a collection to manually copy a link that you can share with or take a note of it to open on another browser or device.
I have been given a collection link, what now?
Simply paste the link into any browser and the collection shared with you will load automatically. You can edit the collection, adding or removing resources or changing the name. And if you want to return to the original collection, you can load back in the shared url.
Backup and restore collections
The ‘Download a backup’ button will download a simple text file that will open in many programs including Word and this browser. It will include all the collections you have made; their title and a link to load them in. Because collections are saved to your browser’s cookies, a backup can be helpful to avoid losing collections when you reset your browser, or if you wish to take your collections to another browser or device.
